What do I need to provide Outlook to use as my incoming and outgoing mail server? … I cannot get Outlook to work. I am using my correct Yahoo ID and password, but it's telling me it's not correct.
For yahoo mail you need upgrade to yahoo mail plus to get
the full pop3 service for access to outlook,incredimail,
thunderbird and others. For more info see the link below.
http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/original/mailplus/pop/pop-35.html
And use the yahoo mail servers address (for yahoo.com address)
* Incoming Mail Server (POP3): plus.pop.mail.yahoo.com
Use SSL, port: 995
* Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP): plus.smtp.mail.yahoo.com
Use SSL, port: 465, use authentication
And for yahoo mail servers address (for yahoo.co.uk address)
* Incoming mail server (POP3): pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk
* Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smpt.mail.yahoo.co.uk
Note: Some UK users can get free pop3 it will depend on if your internet service provider has an arrangement with yahoo, you need to check with your isp first.
Graham T above is assuming the question is for the UK, (it could be) but this page is for all English speaking users around the world, and pop3 setting are different for pop3 UK and pop3 .com.
Check your settings, they should be
Type of account pop3
Incoming server pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk
Incoming port (pop3) 995,
Outgoing server smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk
Outgoing port (smtp) 465.
Dont forget to enable POP Forwarding in Options/Mail Options when you are logged into your account on the web under IE or Firefox.
Outlook will not be able to work with your account unless you do this.
