Mohu být hostitelem webového serveru v síti Cox Residential Internet Service?
Mohu být hostitelem webového serveru v síti Cox Residential Internet Service? ...
Musíte jej znovu přiřadit novému portu a uvést jej v url adrese.

RE:

I try to host web server on Cox Residential Cable. Seems that request package does not reach my server. Are there something wrong?
Děkuji,
Many residential cable and DSL operators dont want their customers hosting websites. They discourage this in a few ways.
1. By using PPP or on-demand connections. When you have a software package you have to install on your computer before using your DSL/cable modem.
2. By blocking various ports. Such as 80, http, and 25, smtp (mail) inbound.
3. By giving you dynamic IP addresses. Your IP address keeps changing every few hours or each time you login.
However, there are a few ways around this. I myself use SBC DSL and host a website and mail server.
You need two things basically. Sometimes they can be combined into one service.
1. Dynamic DNS. This is a service that maps your domain name to your constantly change IP address. There are many providers. I use a very reliable one called www.dyndns.org.
2. Port forwarding/relay (if necessary). If you find that your provider is blocking ports, you may need to sign up for a relay or port forwarder. (Sending port 80 to 8080, etc.) www.dyndns.org can do this, or others.
I hope this helps you solve your problems!
Well I see some endurance International companies, stay far far away from these guys: Endurance International Group and the many subsideraries: AccountSupport, BizLand, BlueDomino, DomainHost, eHost, EntryHost, FatCow, FreeYellow, HostCentric, HostYourSite, HyperMart, ImOutDoors, iPowerWeb (iPower), NetWorksHosting, PowWeb, PureHost, ReadyHosting, USAnetHosting, VirtualAve, & Xeran. Another one to stay away from is hostingplex. Lunarpages is not too bad as far as servers and performance, but their customer support pretty much sucks.
Hi there! Someone in my Facebook group posted this link so I came to take a look. I'm definitely loving the information. I am book-marking and will be tweeting it to my followers!
Why not put your question to Cox directly! Just give them a call or send them a registered letter.

You need to go into your router, and divert the public IP address to be port-forwarded to your private IP.
