Well, I have never used Gmail until today. I have used Hotmail for over a decade. I've used Yahoo! for about a half decade.
Hotmail at one time offered free POP3 mail access. But then a few years ago they revolked that privelege. From what I know, Hotmail has not offered free POP3 maill access for quite some time.
So really the question you should be asking is: When is the free POP3 access for Gmail no longer going to be free? It's just a matter of time, since it is now the only free POP3 service available.
After all, having web-only access does allow for the costs associated with your mail account by using banner advertising and click-throughs.
I would like to point out that your Internet Service Provider (ISP) usually comes with at least one free email address, usually 5 or maybe more. The only time it does not come with your ISP is if you are on a special budget type of plan. So realize that the ability to get POP3 email from your ISP is not free, since your are paying for internet access.
I have had Yahoo! Mail Plus before, and it is quite cool. You can create up to 50 other email alias addresses at any time. This is usefull for tracking and manipulating spam as well. Plus you get cool features with Yahoo! Mail Plus as well. Go to http://mailplus.mail.yahoo.com/ to learn more.
Yahoo Mail Plus is currently being offered for $19.95 a year. Overall help for Yahoo! Mail Plus can be found here: http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/or… .

Gmail offers at least 2.5 gigs of storage it says, but it gave me an initial 5.8 gigs of storage space when I signed up.
It looks like Gmail offers free POP3 external mail access for free! I'm impressed. But before you can get POP3 mail, you must first enable it within your web browser. Go to http://gmail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=13273&topic=12890 for help on turning POP3 on.
Configuring Outlook Express, or many other mail programs, can be done by following the directions from the link that will be displayed inside the POP3 settings window.
So now that I have a Gmail account that allows free access to POP3, I am going to set up my Yahoo! and Hotmail accounts to automatically forward all messeges that are not spam to my Gmail account. I will have Outlook running in the background on my computer which constantly checks for new email. This way I can get all of my email from all of my accounts automatically and easily with easy notification of new emails from your Start bar.
Hope this helps.
Yahoo and Hotmail do no longer POP your e mail for unfastened. whether, Yahoo Mail Plus is purely approximately $20 a three hundred and sixty 5 days and incorporates many extra features to boot to POP. verify this out: P.S. There are third social gathering purposes available, yet i'm no longer trusting everybody different that my e mail provider and my e mail shopper(Outlook convey).
